Sencare and Fondazione FARO together for the digitalization of home palliative care
Turin, December 12, 2024 – Sencare, a digital solution for home care born within the Startup Studio Startup Bakery, has signed a partnership with Fondazione FARO ETS, a non-profit organization committed to palliative care in the territories of Turin, Carignano, Chivasso, and Lanzo, to support the digitalization of their home care activities. This collaboration aims to improve the internal organization of FARO’s medical and nursing teams and promote closer and more direct communication with patients’ families, contributing to improving the quality of care and saving time and resources.

Fondazione FARO, active for forty years, assists over 1,500 patients each year, about 1,000 of whom are at home, with the rest in hospice facilities, demonstrating a strong commitment to prioritizing home care whenever conditions allow. This choice not only improves the quality of life for patients, allowing them to remain in their family environment, but also results in a significant saving for the National Health Service (SSN) which in 2023 was estimated at over 1.8 million euros for avoided hospitalizations*.
The first phase of the partnership will focus on the optimization of internal communication among members of the healthcare team, composed of about 175 professionals including doctors, nurses, and coordinators. They will be able to plan and monitor daily activities through Sencare's cloud platform and manage their care program directly from the mobile app. In a subsequent phase, also caregivers and patients' families will be able to access information, thus ensuring constant updates on care management.

Thanks to a network of 175 professionals and 243 volunteers, who provide companionship, logistical support, and assistance for recreational activities, FARO guarantees extensive psychological and social support to over 600 families with dedicated projects. A care model that demonstrates the importance of an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to palliative care.

Fondazione FARO ETS
Fondazione FARO ETS is a non-profit organization that provides health, physical, emotional, and psychological assistance to those in need of palliative care, also taking care of their families. In addition to assistance work, FARO also conducts medical-scientific research and dissemination activities in the field of palliative care thanks to the presence of an internal research center and a cultural office.
This is achieved through the work of a specialized team in palliative care composed of professionals from various scientific fields: doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, socio-health assistants, and social workers. And thanks also to the work of all administrative and logistical staff, allowing for better organization to guarantee the best assistance service.
All the work of professional operators is then complemented by the tireless support of numerous volunteers who donate their time to FARO’s projects.
The specific modalities of assistance always prefer home as the place of care; where this is not possible, FARO has recreated the welcoming and loving environment of home in its hospices. FARO currently operates in the territory of the province of Turin.
