  • Additional €1,200,000 are added to the €750,000 raised by the investment vehicle of the Italian Startup Studio at the end of 2020 for a total of nearly 2 million euros. 39 investors are currently involved.

  • The raised capital will be used, according to the “sidecar” model, for both central structure management and for the pre-seed and seed activities of the first 3 initiatives of Startup Bakery by 2022: the solution to simplify the relationship between veterinarians and pet owners, Veterly, a new platform for PropTech imminent release, and a solution dedicated to SilverTech, in the budding stage. 

  • The capital raising of €3.5M has been opened on the second Lab to finance the additional ten initiatives of the Studio in the four-year period 2023-2026.

Milano, February 14, 2022 – The Startup StudioStartup Bakery has today announced that it has completed the capital raising around its first “Lab,” its investment vehicle, for a total of 1,950,000 euros. €1,200,000 have indeed been added to the €750,000 raised at the end of 2020 thanks to the total trust granted by 39 investors.

“This is an important milestone reached just two years after the birth of the Studio, with one startup already launched on the market, one upcoming, and one in the budding phase, as already predicted by our model – commented Alessandro Arrigo, CEO of Startup Bakery – The ‘sidecar’ financial model indeed entails the creation of an investment vehicle alongside the corporate reality. The funds raised through these vehicles are therefore used both to finance the studio and to finance the startups developed by the studio.” 

What was raised by the first Lab will thus support, by the end of the year, the pre-seed and seed activities of the first 3 initiatives of Startup Bakery: Veterly, the solution to simplify the relationship between veterinarians and pet owners, launched last year and since 2022 led by Laura Venturini, a successful entrepreneur in the digital and PetTech, already CEO and founder of Quindo and Cane in Viaggio; a new platform for PropTech that is completing its seed raising of €700,000; and a new solution that will operate in the area of SilverTech, in the budding stage. 

Unlike accelerators and incubators, startup studios do not “host” existing early-stage startups but create new businesses from scratch, investing directly in each project. This model allows for reducing the risk of project failure, speeding up the growth process, and quickly bringing them to exit with involved industrial partners, even financially, from day one. Startup Bakery, specifically, is a startup studio dedicated to the creation of SaaS B2B companies characterized by a strong component of Artificial Intelligence and oriented towards sustainability and achieving the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals, the sustainable development goals promoted by the United Nations). 

“Startup Bakery has applied the lean method to itself: it first launched a Proof of Concept, verified that the market responded positively, and only once validated, launched a new, larger Lab of €3,500,000 to finance the additional ten initiatives of the Studio in the four-year period 2023-2026″ – added Alessandro Arrigo, CEO of Startup Bakery.

The additional fundraising vehicle, launched based on the success recorded by the first Lab, aims to extend the potential audience to other types of investors like companies, family offices, and professional investors. “We are open to receiving expressions of interest from now on”, concluded Arrigo.

The Interaction Design approach centered on the user, guaranteed by the know-how of Donux, a UX/UI agency specifically created by Startup Bakery, finally offers simple and effective user experiences. 

Startup Bakery offers industrial partners a new way of doing open innovation by entering the capital of the new startups and progressively accompanying them in their development until acquiring them. 

The SB “Lab,” operational companies of the group, has the task of financially supporting the initiatives born in the pre-seed and seed stages (co-investment), as well as building their core team (HR). 

At the end of November, Startup Bakery closed a capital increase of €750,000. In October 2020, it birthed its first startup, Veterly, and in April 2021, it opened capital raising of €700,000 in its favor.
