Milan, 13 December 2022: Sencare, the digital solution for home care born inside Startup Bakery, has completed its validation phase and opens a 700,000 euro round, having already raised, even before starting, 400,000 euros.
The startup, the third spun up by the Startup Studio to date, is an intelligent cloud assistant allowing organisations specialised in home care, or those wishing to begin delivering such a service, to choose, organise and oversee care, offering the independence and peace of mind that those being cared for and their families need.
The capital raised, following the validation phase that occupied it over the past 3 months in developing the prototype, will serve to carry the MVP forward and to start the commercial phase, planned for March 2023. At the helm of the company, Andrea Strini, formerly a business consultant at Nielsen, with a past in market research and digital marketing as head of analytics for Triboo and Blogmeter and as CEO of the startup T-Voice.
“With Sencare we aim to provide tools for quality home care, commented CEO and co-founder Andrea Strini, The solution connects care organisations with home care professionals, the people being cared for and their caregivers, making both the delivery and the monitoring of services more efficient and allowing both the organisations and the families to oversee the quality and punctuality of the services received. We have already recorded requests for a total of around 400 beds and the interest of several industrial partners: this round will let us go to market very quickly”.
Among Sencare’s investors are Startup Bakery itself, through its Lab, and the telemedicine entrepreneur Vincenzo Papa, currently at the helm of Gruppo Consis, a company delivering technology solutions and consulting for the public and private healthcare sector.
“Our Studio’s goal has always been bringing to life sustainable B2B SaaS companies. With this in mind, all our initiatives answer to at least one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and we select only the business ideas that prove to have a positive impact on people and on our planet and that adhere to ESG criteria (Environmental, Social and Governance), added Alessandro Arrigo, CEO and co-founder of Startup Bakery*, Italy is the oldest country in Europe and the SilverTech sector is attracting more and more investment. The needs Sencare addresses were validated on the market together with our experts through in-depth interviews and questionnaires with caregivers: the main needs that emerged concern monitoring, communication and greater safety for the elderly person being cared for at home”.*
Care organisations report great difficulty both in staff management (communication and shift rotation) and on the front of communication with caregivers. The latter, on the other side, register the need to be constantly connected and to always have their loved ones’ health status under control. And if on one hand care organisations feel the need to create more beds and broaden their offering to include home services, on the other 70% of those interviewed would be happy to opt for home care rather than admission to a facility, should the need arise.
Sencare fits into this scenario by offering a solution able to enable the advanced management of those being cared for and the automatic creation of visit plans; to display all requests and reports for everyone being cared for in a single intelligent interface, sortable by type, urgency or criticality; to structure a visit plan and an interactive to-do list for every worker, for rapid, simple management of interventions; and to keep a diary with all the updates concerning the person being cared for, consultable by family members via the app.
A digital solution to a real need, for a market that in Italy today involves around 144,000 workers between nurses and physiotherapists, 14,500 small organisations including medical centres and home care cooperatives, and 13,000 large facilities including residential social-care and social-health facilities. And one in which the caregiver is often a family member.

Startup Bakery
Startup Bakery is the Italian startup studio founded by Alessandro Arrigo and Angelo Cavallini in February 2020 with the goal of bringing to life sustainable B2B SaaS companies with a strong Artificial Intelligence component, and of allowing founders, companies and professional investors to express their potential.
The Studio guarantees the serial application of tools, skills and methodologies already present in the team, and stands beside the co-founder through every phase, from the raise to the exit, making them progressively more independent. Thanks to a proprietary algorithm, it can count on advanced capabilities for collecting and processing market data in order to identify niches of interest to occupy, while the cyclical validation of the initiatives launched is guaranteed by the application of the lean method.
The user-centred Interaction Design approach guaranteed by the know-how of Donux, the UX/UI company spun up by Startup Bakery itself, finally delivers simple, effective user experiences.
Startup Bakery offers industrial partners a new way of doing open innovation, entering the capital of the new startups and progressively accompanying them in their development up to acquiring them.
The SB “Labs”, the group’s operating companies, have the task of financially supporting the initiatives spun up in the pre-seed and seed phases (in co-investment), as well as building their core team (HR).
At the end of November 2020 Startup Bakery closed a capital increase of €750,000. In April 2021 it opened the €700,000 capital raise for its first startup, Veterly, and in October of the same year it brought it to market. In January 2022 it completed the €1,950,000 capital raise thanks to its first Lab. In March 2022 it presented its second spun-up startup, Condeo, for which it closed the €700,000 capital raise in October 2022, with Edison and Svicom among the main industrial partners.
